ABOUT KASEYKasey Payette (she/they) is a writer and editor based in Minneapolis and on the road. Her essays and stories—which explore food, the body, and utopian longing—have appeared in literary publications including Blue Mesa Review, CALYX, Gulf Coast, and Water~Stone Review, among others. Her arts writing can be found in American Craft, on craftcouncil.org, and in various exhibition catalogs.
Kasey has taught community writing workshops in Minnesota and Washington, and her work has been supported by the Loft Mentor Series Fellowship, Minnesota State Arts Board, and Tables of Contents Regenerative Residency at the Glynwood Center for Regional Food and Farming in Cold Spring, New York. She is currently completing her MFA through the Bennington Writing Seminars and is at work on her first book.
What I see in artists and writers whose practices have stayed alive over the long run is that Keatsian capacity to dwell in uncertainty, in what are often irresolvable tensions…That continual friction generates considerable heat for making art, if you can bear it.
